Tokyo, Feb 8- On the third day of visit to Japan, Honorable Finance Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial and offered a wreath in the memories of those who have been killed in a devastated atomic bombing in 1945. He also visited Peace Museum. Officials of City of Hiroshima welcomed Hon. Minister and Director of Peace Museum explained about the pathetic scenes that the Museum has demonstrated to the public. Talking to the Journalist at the Peace Memorial, Hon. Minister said that such kind of cruel act by the imperialist should be the matter of condemnation. He further said that such kind of war is against the humanity and should not be repeated at any excuse.
Later evening, he is arrived in Tokyo and attended a meeting with the members of Nepal – Japan Society. The President of the Society and former Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Mr. Chui chi Ito welcomed Hon. Minister and expressed his confidence that the peace process will be successful in Nepal and pave the way for economic development. On this occasion, Hon. Minister explained that the purpose of this visit to Japan, a long time after the new political scenario emerged in Nepal, is to gain the support of the Government and people of Japan through various means – government to government, private to private and people to people level. He stressed that there is no development without peace and there is no peace without development in Nepal. He reminded that Nepal expects higher level of support from Japan, as a true friend of Nepal having cultural historical ties between the two countries. He also highlighted some of the priorities of Nepal to develop infrastructures – hydro power, roads and tourism, where Japan can provide economic support through public as well as private investments. He appealed the members of the society to facilitate in this endeavor through making favorable environment at the government and the people level.
